I saw The Matador with some friends last night. we had no idea what the movie was about going into but wow, we all enjoyed it, me the most (as evidenced by me posting about it). for those not in the know, it’s about a hitman that encounters a super average business man in mexico city and their wacky antics together. ok, not really wacky antics, but their story together. please don’t watch the trailer, i just did and meh, the movie is nothing like it.

having seen a lot of crap recently, this was just a really fresh movie in my opinion. i had absolutely no idea where the story was going, not because i was lost but because it could have gone anywhere and it would have been good. the art direction was beautiful (loved when they first met at the bar in the hotel). and lastly, there were just so many good character moments that really kept my friends and i interested from an animation perspective. so many subtle ways the characters did their thing… ahhhh, good stuff. i guess my only complaint would be that the pacing could have been better. sooooooooo, go see it, you’ll like it i bet.

oh, and how amazing does Thank You For Smoking look? really amazing, that’s how.
